Sharing Stories Arts Exchange Public Information Session
Davidson Whaling Station and Bilgallera Beach with John Blay and Darren Mongta, with participants from the 2023 program.

The Sharing Stories Arts Exchange is a creative participatory project focused on building positive reciprocal relationships between the Canberra community and local regional Indigenous and non-indigenous communities. The Sharing Stories Arts Exchange (SSAE) features culturally rich learning opportunities and events in the ACT as well as a structured creative field program visiting areas in south-eastern NSW which include the Bundian Way; a shared historic pathway used by Aboriginal people for tens of thousands of years, linking Mount Kosciuszko with Twofold Bay on the Far South Coast of NSW.

The aim of the program is to build on existing shared values by way of active reconciliation: learning from local Indigenous people and increasing awareness and understanding of the complexities of culture and reconciliation through creative outcomes.

The 2024 program will be held over several sessions from March – October, including overnight field and camping trips.

More details including program structure, dates and costs will be provided in the public information session.

Participation is welcomed from ACT-based artists and creatives. The information session will be held in-person at the ANU School of Art & Design.

This program is funded by ArtsACT and the ANU School of Art & Design.
